8 RULES TO SAFETY IN YOUR WORKSHOP

1. Locate the motor switch within easy reach of the operator on every tool. Never operator any tool by merely plugging it into a wall receptacle.
2. Use the guards that are recommended for your machines at all times, particularly with saws, jointers and shapers-all high-speed cutting tools.
3. Don't let youngsters play near powder tools in use. Shut off all power when leaving your workshop.
4. Keep your attention on your work. Do not converse with anybody when operating a machine.
5.Do not wear loose clothing when operating any catch in a shaft or blade, pulling you into it.
6. Keep fingers well clear of the path of a cutting blade. If cutting on a slender board, use a "pusher" made by notching a stick to push it past the blade. Push the cut-off strip well clear.
7. Never operate an electrically powered machine while standing on a dump floor. Be certain wiring is heavy enough to handle all loads.
8. A bold but never reckless touch is best when feeding work to cutting tools. High speed for the cutting tool and slow, steady feed of the material you are cutting insure smooth cuts, save your motor and blade and eliminate dangerous jamming that might flip work back at you.
