INSTALLING PINE PANELS

  1. Baseboard must be surface-nailed. For a job of genuine professional quality, drive the 6d finishing nails well into the wood with nails set, then use filler to hide the holes.
  2. Nail paneling to the furring strips at the tongued edge. In this way, the groove of the next panel will hide the nails. Hammer the grooved block as shown to obtain a tight fit.
  3.  Furring strips must be installed all around windows to give solid support for paneling. You must also cut panels to fit around windows.
  4. For flat corners, a strip of paneling is beveled on both edges. It is laid right into the corner and then surface nailed.
  5. For a 90ํํ corner, trim the pattern from a piece of paneling. But it into the corner against other end panel and nail.
  6. A stair section of a basement recreation room finished in western pine paneling.
